Knitted Kelpies

Posted on August 24, 2015

Whilst the Princess Royal visited Falkirk’s stunning Kelpies created by sculptor Andy Scott this summer I have been working on a knitted Kelpie head as part of my Reader in Residency with the Scottish Book Trust and Falkirk Libraries.

Several libraries in Falkirk have knit and natter sessions and Meadowbank even has a Lego group, Bo’ness will also be creating a virtual library using Minecraft later in the year!

My theme for the year is to map Falkirk’s transformation through the eyes of the heavy horses that pulled the barges up and down the canals and to show the diversity of what goes on in local libraries. I was asked for creative ideas to celebrate their talents… so what better than a knitted 3D canal map for Book Week in November? Whilst I rustle up a couple of Kelpies based on the 30 metre high beauties that have transformed Helix Park I am challenging Falkirk knitters to create knitted navvies, horses, ducks, swans, UFO’s – all kinds of canal dwellers and I hope to get some Lego barges too!

I think that side effects of finasteride can be reduced if there is a great desire side effects of propecia certainly will not be wasted. At the time when the first symptoms appear the desire passes.
